Basic Envelope Letterfold
Learn how to fold a useful origami envelope letterfold. Only takes a minute or so to make, write a note and fold it into this basic origami envelope letterfold!
“Letterfolds” are traditional Japanese origami note paper folds. The idea is to write your note or letter onto the paper and then fold it into a shape, keeping the note inside concealed. We have more origami Letterfolds, over here.
The paper size used is A4 or US letter paper. Any rectangular paper size will work.
Basic Envelope Letterfold Instructions

Step 1: This is the front of our paper, this side of the paper will be the colour of the final envelope.
Step 2: This is the back of our paper, on this side you can write your note. This side will be hidden.
Step 3: Bring the bottom edge of the paper up to the top to fold it in half.
Step 4: Unfold the previous step.
Step 5: Fold the top right corner diagonally down to the left, aligning with the horizontal crease you made in the previous step.
Step 6: Fold the bottom left corner diagonally up and align with the central horizontal crease.
Step 7: Fold the bottom right edge to the left, aligning with the right edge of the lower triangular flap.
Step 8: Bring the top left edge to align with the left edge of the upper triangular flap.
Step 9: Rotate the paper.
